About the Dr. Bard

Robert L. Bard, MD has become internationally known and recognized as a leader in the field of Radiology. Dr. Bard specializes in advanced imaging, particularly sonography (ultrasound), to detect cancers in numerous organs and tissue sites including the breast, prostate, skin, parathyroid, ovaries and other areas. Dr. Bard’s images can be used to guide further testing, treatment, and follow-up after treatment.

        Dr. Bard’s medical career began as an intern at Harkness Hospital in California and has since brought him to the forefront of medicine. He has served in the military, been the head Radiologist at several leading hospitals, and published a multitude of books and papers. He has made presentations worldwide.

        Dr. Bard is currently in consulting practice in New York City. He appears frequently on regional television and radio and is a consultant to many organizations. He is currently working to improve non-invasive cancer treatments and develop minimally invasive image guided technologies to prevent cancer spread through his foundation, The Biofoundation for Angiogenesis Research and Development.


Dr. Robert Bard received his Medical Degree from SUNY HSC Syracuse in 1968. He completed his Internship at Harkness Hospital and Medical Center (San Francisco) followed by first year Residency in Radiology at Downstate  Medical Center (New York). He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Chief Radiologist, attaining the rank of Major. While in the Air Force, he performed radiology services at the USAF Hospital in Udorn, Thailand, and acted as Consulting Radiologist at the U.S. Embassy (Vientiane, Laos).

        Upon honorable discharge from the USAF, he completed his Residency in Radiology at the New York Medical College. He held the position of Associate in the Ultrasound Laboratory, Gentofte Hospital (Copenhagen, Denmark). In addition to his private clinical and consulting practice, professional appointments include:

1976-79                        Radiologist, Doctors Hospital (New York, NY)

1976-79                        Radiologist, Manhattan Eye Ear Throat Hospital (New York NY)

2003 – 2012 Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology (New York Medical College)

        Dr. Bard is certified by the American Board of Radiology, National Board of Medical Examiners, and as a Workers Compensation Specialist. He is accredited in mammography, and is a Diplomate, American Board of Radiology. He holds membership in numerous professional societies, including the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, The American College of Radiology, The American Roentgen Ray Society, and he co-chairs the American Institute of Diagnostic Ultrasound. He is a member of several state and international societies.

        Dr. Bard has been recognized with many honors and offices, including serving as an International Advisory Board Member of the International Society of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound from 1999-2007. He has authored and edited many publications and presentations
